One More Once: 1992 Crossmen Final Runthrough Audio

Once upon a time, before we had digital audio recorders, we had cassette recorders. At the time, the sound quality was sufficient because there was nothing else, gear wise, for comparison.

By today's standards, when everything is digitally documented (some might say over documented), those old cassette recordings don't sound very good. But, recordings like this one capture the spirit of the performance, and that is just as important.

This recording is of the last run through on the day of 1992 DCI Finals, taken by a cassette recorder placed in the stands on the 50 years line at our rehearsal site. You can hear a fair amount of banter among staff, friends and family who were there to experience this. This is roughly the vantage point of what the drum major would hear.

The cassette that contained this recording sat in a box for quite a few years until it was discovered earlier this week. The pictures are some candids that the 1992 percussion alumni sent in, and those pics are worth 1000s of words.

So for the other 127 members of that 1992 corps, the staff and volunteers who were there that day, as well as everyone else who digs this kind of thing, enjoy.
